Internet and Browsing- Annestta Samuels 620031601

The iPad’s web browser is the Apple Safari.
It has some interesting and advanced features which enables Jamaican users to enjoy their device just as much as other users worldwide. Web pages load and reload with support from the Nitro JavaScript engine, which makes reading, shopping, messaging happen at a fast speed. The Multi-Touch feature transforms a simple touch, swipe or flick of the fingers into lifelike actions.

Wi-Fi and 3G
The iPad 2 has a Wi-Fi only model, as well as a Wi-Fi and 3G model. The Wi-Fi is ideal for those who have a high speed wireless router within range. It can even be used by university students while on campus using UWI’s hotspot wireless network. The Wi-Fi and 3G models allows for connectivity with both wireless signals and cellular signals. This is more ideal for those who are not always within range of a wireless network. Telecom giants Claro and Lime both have 3G connectivity to support the iPad 2. Digicel uses 4G WiMax technology that makes it capable of supporting browsing with the iPad 2.

Browsing

Sending and receiving email is made easier on the iPad 2. The iPad 2 offers HD quality to email content, whether it is for Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail or any other email provider. The iPad 2 also offers social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogger, Google Reader, StumbleUpon and Reddit, among others.

Browsing Speed
Compared to other tablets of its kind such as the Motorola Xoom, the iPad 2 has a slower browsing and downloading speed.  See for yourself:
